Student Named 'Miss Dance of the United States'

A student at DePaul Catholic High School in Wayne has been named “Miss Dance of the United States,” the school announced this week.

The title is handed out each year at the United States Tournament of Dance.

Senior Alexa Lobosco, a lifelong dance student, got the honor this year. Lobosco is a DePaul Football Cheer Captain, member of the school’s Dance Team, and a Vincentian honors student.

In an interview with Capezio.com, Lobosco said she has been training in multiple styles of dance at the Performing Arts Academy in Pompton Lakes since the age of two.

“I love dance because I can express myself without even saying a word,” she said in the interview.

“Being on stage is so comfortable for me and it has really become my favorite place.”

As Miss Dance, Lobosco will spend the next year supporting her official platform, Juvenile Diabetes research.

“My goal is to spread awareness of the seriousness of diabetes and fundraise to support Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation efforts in reaching a diabetes-free life,” she said.
