Wayne Man Charged after Utility Pole Hit-and-Run, Report Says

A Wayne man is facing DWI charges after he allegedly hit and ran into a utility pole and the landscaping of a few homes in Pequannock, nj.com reported.

According to the report, cops received a call at about 12:05 a.m. Sunday that a car crashed into a utility pole on Jacksonville Road, and then left the scene of the accident.

Cops say they found a damaged car later at Van Allen Place, the report said. The accident also damaged the pole, and landscaping and stone structures on two adjacent houses, police told nj.com. Cops say the driver of the Toyota Corolla was under the influence at the time of the hit-and-run crash, the report said.

Erik Linotte, 49, of Wayne, has been charged with a DWI, reckless driving, failure to maintain a lane, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to report an accident, leaving the scene of an accident, and possession of an open alcohol container in a motor vehicle, the report said.

Linotte ha been released pending a court date in Pequannock, it said.
