Wayne Rotary Hosting Early 'Cinco de Mayo' Fundraiser

Event is happening at the Brownstone next Monday.

Wayne Rotary Hosting Early 'Cinco de Mayo' Fundraiser

Wayne Rotary has contributed fifty thousand dollars to local charities over the last nine years, as a result of its annual charitable dinner. This year’s tenth-anniversary event, will have a Mexican motif and will be held Monday, April 28, at the Brownstone, starting at 6 pm.

The idea is for Rotary to hold an event a week before the traditional Cinco de Mayo celebrations, to give revelers the opportunity to get a jump on this traditional celebration day.

Dance music will be heard most of the night, with a catchy modern Mexican beat.

The menu will include Mexican City Soup, Tossed Garden Salad, Spanish Chicken, Rice, Braised Short Ribs, Fresh Mixed Vegetable, Red Roasted Potatoes, Dinner Rolls, Dessert, and Sangria at the tables.

Attendees can dress in Mexican garb, or just come in casual clothing and watch the people who wear Mexican gear.

There will also be a Tricky Tray, with gifts to be won, donated by local businesses and individuals.

Readers can order their seats via the U.S. mail. Just make out a check to “Wayne Rotary Foundation, Inc.” for $55. Per person, and send to Wayne Rotary, Box 2022, Wayne, NJ 07470. Include your name, address, and phone number.

Dinner Chairperson, Susan Spatt, comments, “This is an excellent opportunity for people to support Wayne and surrounding area charities by enjoying a Mexican fiesta, dancing, and networking with local people and dignitaries.
