Fire Consumes Charter Bus On NJ Turnpike: Police

The bus caught fire in Woolwich Township Sunday night, police said.

WOOLWICH TOWNSHIP, NJ - A charter bus on its way to New York City caught fire on the New Jersey Turnpike Sunday night, according to police.

Twenty-two people were rescued from the bus after it became fully engulfed just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday night, Jan. 27, New Jersey State Police said Monday morning.

The inferno consumed the 1998 Provost near mile marker 12.8 on the New Jersey Turnpike north near Woolwich Township, police said. No one was injured. The cause of the fire wasn’t known.
