UPDATE: NJ State Trooper Hit By Car On 295

The incident was reported near Exit 23 (Crowne Point Road).

A New Jersey State Trooper was struck by a car on I-295 Monday in South Jersey, according to multiple reports.

The trooper was conducting a motor vehicle stop when he and the car he stopped were struck by a passing car, according to 6 ABC.

The stopped car was spun around and caught fire. The driver of that car was also hospitalized.

The trooper was taken by helicopter to Cooper University Hospital, according to nj.com. The trooper's identity and condition were not released Monday night.

The incident occurred on the southbound lane of I-295, near Exit 23 (Crowne Point Road), around 8 p.m., according to the Courier Post.
