Police Take Down Heroin Manufacturing Mill In South Jersey: Prosecutor

Law enforcement took down a heroin manufacturing mill this week following a four-week investigation, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office.

Shavar L. Harvey, 32, of Williamstown, was arrested on charges of first-degree maintaining a heroin manufacturing facility; third-degree possession of heroin; third-degree distribution of heroin; possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia.

He was arrested on Tuesday following the execution of a search warrant at his house. During the search, police say they seized 15 folds of heroin, $456 in U.S. currency, marijuana and various pieces of CDS processing/manufacturing equipment.

Harvey was placed in the Salem County Jail without bail.

“Illegal opiates are a scourge in many of our communities,” Gloucester County Prosecutor Sean F. Dalton said. “The work being done by these local and county law enforcement agencies is important in this ongoing fight.”

The Monroe Township and Winslow Township police departments assisted in the investigation.
