Truck Fire Closes All Lanes On I-78 In Union County

SPRINGFIELD, NJ — All lanes on Interstate 78 are closed due to a truck fire on the express lanes in both directions on Tuesday afternoon.

The fire was reported around 12:45 p.m. on the express lanes just west of Exit 49 for NJ 124/Springfield Avenue in Springfield Township, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation's 511NJ website.

As a result, all lanes remain closed as of 3 p.m.

Additionally, there is traffic congestion on I-78 East located just west of Exit 45 - County Route 527/Glenside Avenue in Summit to West of Exit 49 - NJ 124/Springfield Avenue in Springfield Township. The current travel time is 40 to 45 minutes.
