A 57-year-old man was recently robbed of $500 at gunpoint, according to police. 

This marks the second armed robbery in town in the past two weeks.  

The man was walking on Harrison Avenue near Chestnut Street at around 9:30 a.m. Sunday, when a black teenager with a handgun came up behind him. 

The man stated to police that he grabbed at the handgun and struggled with the teenager. However, the teenager eventually pushed the gun into the man’s stomach, causing him to fall to the ground. 

The teenage boy reportedly took the man's wallet, which contained $500 in cash. The wallet was later found in the rear of a residence on Harrison Avenue.  

The teenager was described in police reports as a young black male between the ages of 17 and 19, and about 5 feet 7 inches.

A spokesperson for the West Orange Police Department said that the detective bureau has no further updates regarding the armed robbery at this time.  

Another armed robbery was at 972 Pleasant Valley Way on July 11.
