Sleepaway camps have come a long way from traditional camp fires and hiking. While some camps still offer traditional summer activities such as swimming and crafts, there are also specialty camps that cater to many interests.

Campers can choose from art, sports, theater and even religious camps, to name a few. Feel free to add ones we may have missed into the comments section:

Branchville

Lindley G. Cook 4-H Camp for grades 3 to 11 with arts and crafts, environmental education, shooting sports, waterfront programs. Teen programs available.

Elmer

Apple Farm Arts Camp offers music and recording arts, theater, dance, visual arts, photography, video, creative writing, sports and more, ages 9 to 17.

Johnsonburg

Johnsonburg Presbyterian Camp and Conference Center for ages 6 to 18 offers arts and crafts, ropes courses, swimming and boating.

Lebanon

Baptist Camp Lebanon is a religious camp for ages 7 to 18 with swimming, sailing, fishing, leadership, and music.

Montclair

Stokes Forest Music Camp through the Preparatory Center for the Arts, a division within the John J. Cali School of Music in the College of the Arts at Montclair State University.

Newton

Fairview Lakes YMCA for grades 2 to 11 offers horseback riding, adventure trips, windsurfing, and more.

Oakhurst

Camp Oakhurst, with locations in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut, offers services for those with special needs or physical disabilities, ages 8 to adult.

Old Tappan

Camp Shalom offers one-week session for boys and girls of Jewish faith, age 3 to grade 8.  

Princeton

The Hun School of Princeton offers high school boarding academic program offering courses for credit or enrichment for ages 5 to 13.

Stillwater

SuperKidz Kamp for ages 11 to 17 is a traditional camp, with activities such as swimming, archery, hiking, row boating, and basketball.
