Whole Foods Celebrates Alex's Lemonade Stand Day

When life gives you lemonade, make a donation to a worthy cause.

Whole Foods Market in West Orange will celebrate  Alex's Lemonade Stand Day on Saturday, June 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event raises funds and awareness in support of the fight against childhood cancer.

The lemon-themed day will include free samples of everything from lemony pastries and baked goods to fresh fruits. Employees will wear yellow to work.

Each store will also set up Alex's Lemonade Stands and sell  Chavez for Charity bracelets with the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation benefiting from 100% of the proceeds.

The West Orange Whole Foods store is located at 235 Prospect Ave.

Other participating Whole Foods stores in Essex County include:

  • Millburn-Union (2245 Springfield Ave., Vauxhall)
  • Montclair (701 Bloomfield Ave., Montclair)
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation was founded by Alexandra "Alex" Scott, who at age 4 held her first lemonade stand to raise money for doctors to help other kids like herself who were battling cancer. Alex died in August of 2004, at the age of 8, knowing she had helped raise more than $1 million to help find a cure for the disease which took her life.
