'Green Screen' Film Festival Returns to Westwood

The fifth annual film festival highlights documentaries with an environmental theme.

'Green Screen' Film Festival Returns to Westwood
The fifth annual "Green Screen" film festival will start in Westwood Jan. 21.

This year's festival will feature six documentaries about various environmental issues and a short film for children.

The documentaries include "GMO OMG," about genetically modified organisms; "Plastic Paradise," about a huge patch of trash forming in the Pacific Ocean; "Gasland II," about hydrofracking; "Planeat," about maintaining a healthy diet which is also sustainable, "Pandora's Promise," about nuclear power and "Ryan's Well," about a boy who helped provide clean drinking water in Africa.

Bibi'z Restaurant will also host a gala and wine tasting reception for the film festival at 5:30 Jan. 23. 

Tickets cost $50 for the gala and all movies, $35 for the gala and "GMO OMG" or $10 each for the screenings at Westwood Cinema. Tickets can be purchased on the Westwood Library's website here. Screenings at the library and HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley are free.
