Pascack Valley School Board OKs Most Contracts, Tables Auditor
Board member said he believed they should consider hiring a new auditor because of potential savings and recommended practices from the state comptroller.
Board member Adam Silverstein said he believed the board could find another auditor at a savings of about $10,000 and noted that the state comptroller's office r ecommends public entities hold a competitive selection process for auditors at least every five years and hire a new firm at least every 10 years.
Silverstein said he would like to request quotes for all of their professional contracts.
"I think it keeps our professionals accountable," he said.
The board did approve contracts with their attorney, architect, insurance agency, dental insurance, tax consultants, environmental consulting services, bond counsel and financial advisors during the meeting.
Last year, Pascack Valley school officials compared their service costs to those of other area districts. They ultimately approved contacts with providers who had all previously held contracts with the district.
