23 Kids Taken to Hospital After Odor at South Amboy Elementary

School officials and EMS workers evacuated the school Wednesday as a precaution.

South Amboy, NJ - Twenty three kids from South Amboy Elementary School were taken to the Raritan Bay Medical Center Wednesday after an unusual odor was detected in two classrooms, reports NJ.com.

The odor was reported to local police at 11:32 a.m. Wednesday, and its cause has still not been determined. The Middlesex County HazMat Unit found no hazardous conditions at the school after extensive testing, a spokeswoman for theĀ Middlesex County Office of Emergency Management told Patch.

EMS workers and school administrators decided to evacuate the school and have the kids checked at Raritan Bay as a precaution. None of the children were admitted to the hospital. The Middlesex County OEM Haz-Mat unit investigated the cause of the odor. Read the full story here.
