Barron Arts Center Hosts Emerging Artists Showcase

Come see new talent at the Barron Arts Center this Thursday.

The Music on Main series continues this week with a showcase for new artists. The concert will be held on Thursday, October 18, at the Barron Arts Center at 7 pm.

Among the gifted musicians who will be playing are Carsie Blanton, Jann Klose, and Caitlyn Canty and more.

Blanton, who hails from New Orleans, says that some people say she's jazzy, others think she's a folk singer, and some swear she's a rock star. She gives her music away for free on Youtube, and she asks her viewers to help her choose the themes for her videos. She's won enough acclaim to have opened for Paul Simon, and her newest album is Idiot Heart.

Singer and songwriter Klose has lived in Germany, Kenya, and South Africa, and is now based in New York. His music was featured in the movie "Greetings from Tim Buckley", which premiered at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival. He's worked with artists Brett Dennen, Ben Taylor, Suzanne Vega, Rusted Root, Vonda Shepard, Rosanne Cash, Roger McGuinn, Renaissance and Annie Haslam, Jim (The Yardbirds) McCarty and the legendary Les Paul.

Canty just released her new album, Golden Hours, a fan-funded album that blends her folk roots with a Western tone, while her Brooklyn-based, Nashville-bred band brings an alt-country flavor to her songs.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online at woodbridgeartsnj.org . For more info, call 732-596-4048.
