How to Register to Vote Before the New Jersey Primary

The deadline to register is May 17 for the June 7 primary election.

And the deadline to register for the Nov. 8 general election is Oct. 18.

You must be a U.S. citizen to vote, and live in the county in which you are registering for 30 days. A person may register to vote at age 17, but must be 18 to cast a ballot.

To register to vote, go to this page and select the New Jersey county in which you live. Fill out the form and mail it in to the address on the form (no postage necessary). If your voter application is accepted, you will be notified by your county. Voila!

Voter participation in the 2015 New Jersey election was the lowest in state history. This was the election for New Jersey state Assembly. According to the state Division of Elections, only 22 percent of registered voters in New Jersey participated in last year's election.
