Man Dies In Carteret Parking Space Dispute; State Investigating
The man suffered a medical episode while arguing with another driver and Carteret police over a parking spot, said the NJ Attorney General.
CARTERET, NJ — A man died in Carteret Wednesday night during an encounter with Carteret police officers and, as is required by law, the New Jersey Attorney General's office is now investigating.
The identity of the man who died is not being released at this time.
The man suffered a medical episode while arguing with another driver and Carteret police officers over a parking spot, said New Jersey Attorney General Andrew Bruck. He had a medical incident during the argument and later died at the hospital.

At 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, a Carteret police officer responded to a call of two men arguing over a parking spot on Jeanette Street near the intersection of Hayward Avenue.
The responding officers spoke to the individuals involved. During the conversation, one of the men appeared to have a medical incident. The officers called an ambulance. The man was transported to Robert Wood Johnson hospital in Rahway and was pronounced dead at approximately 12:00 a.m., said the Attorney General.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information is being released at this time, said the Attorney General, including what town the man is from.
As required by law, anytime someone in New Jersey dies during an encounter with police, the New Jersey Attorney General must investigate to determine if any laws were broken and if the police acted properly in their official capacity.
