5th District Congressional Candidate Josh Gottheimer Meets With High School Students

FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. — Congressional candidate Josh Gottheimer encouraged Ramapo High School students Monday to get involved in public service at an early age.

Gottheimer, a Wyckoff native, is running against incumbent Scott Garrett in this year's 5th Congressional District election.

Gottheimer got his start in public service as a page for Senator Frank Lautenberg. He eventually became a speechwriter for former President Bill Clinton, a position he took soon after graduating from Harvard Law School.

“I learned from an early age, watching people like Senator Lautenberg and President Clinton, that it takes working together across the aisle to make a wide-ranging impact in our communities,” said Gottheimer. It’s impressive to see students at a young age take an interest in the issues that affect all of us, they have an incredibly bright future ahead of them.”

Gottheimer founded Connect2Compete and JerseyOn, a non-profit that provides affordable, high-speed internet access to low-income students in New Jersey.
