Bergen Woman Accused Of Stealing $75K From Paterson Charter School

A Bergen County woman faces 10 years in state prison for allegedly stealing $75,000 while she was in charge of the school's payroll.
Kathleen E. Patacsil, 51, of Lodi, was Chief Operating Officer of the Community Charter School of Paterson from 2014 and 2015. She allegedly diverted $75,000 in school funds "for her personal benefit," said Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes.
Patacsil was in charge of the school's payroll when the theft occurred, Valdes said.

Patacsil was arrested Wednesday; she was charged with theft by deception, Valdes said. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in state prison.
Patacsil was released on bail and waived her first appearance in Passaic County Superior Court Friday, Valdes said. The matter was referred to a grand jury.
