Local Faces: Laura Simonyan

Meet your neighbors and get to know this local business owner in "Local Faces"

Local Faces: Laura Simonyan

Laura Simonyan took over The Endless Vine from her brother, Eric, when he passed away in March of 2009, so that her parents didn’t have to sell the Franklin Lakes business or run it by themselves.

Eric loved wine, his sister said. He was a people person with a kind, gentle soul, so it was only natural, she said, that he opened a wine bar and a liquor store.

The Endless Vine has an impressive selection of wine and often plays host to local musicians, which, according to Simonyan, is the coolest thing they have there.

Food

I really prefer to cook, as opposed to eating out. I like to cook healthy, organic foods. I just got back from Whole Foods.

Entertainment

I come to the Endless Vine for entertainment. There are so many talented musicians that play here, like David J. Keyes and Pat Bianco.

Travel

I love to go to California because I lived in Santa Barbara for 10 years and my husband’s family lives there.

Education

Aside from the Endless Vine, I’m also a lawyer. I went to law school at Seton Hall and also taught there for a year.

Make a Wish

I wish that no child would ever suffer.

On the Issues

There’s a lot of poverty and affluence at the same time. People go on with their daily lives, when, in reality, there’s so much suffering in the world. People forget to slow down and take advantage of life and are distracted by the wrong things.

On Wyckoff/Franklin Lakes

I love living here. I grew up in Franklin Lakes. I lived in paradise for 10 years in California and I prefer it here.  The people are warm and loving. There’s a lot of good eggs, good souls in the area.
