Bergen County Man Pleads Guilty To Distributing Child Porn

Rafael Andreu, 70, of Bogota, had child rape videos on his computer, authorities said.

A Bergen County man pleaded guilty Tuesday to distributing child pornography over the internet, said Attorney General Christopher S. Porrino. Authorities found several videos depicting child rape on the man's computer during their investigation.

Rafael Andreu, 70, of Bogota, pleaded guilty to second-degree distribution of child pornography before Judge Christopher R. Kazlau in Bergen County.

Andreu admitted using internet file-sharing software to make child pornography files available to other users, Porrino said. Several videos of child pornography, including some depicting child rape, were found on Andreu's computer, Porrino said.

“By sending defendants like Andreu to prison, we send a message to those who share this filth online that this is a very serious crime with very serious consequences,” said Attorney General Porrino. “We’ll continue to make these cases a top priority in order to protect children, who are tortured to create these videos and re-victimized each time they are viewed.”

Under terms of the plea agreement, the state will recommend that Andreu be sentenced to four years in state prison, including 20 months of parole ineligibility. He will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.
