First Graders Plant Trees Donated by Babylon Rotary Club

North Babylon students celebrate Arbor Day by planting their own trees.

First Graders Plant Trees Donated by Babylon Rotary Club

First graders at Marion G. Vedder Elementary School in North Babylon had the chance to get hands-on for Arbor Day, thanks to the Babylon Rotary Club's tradition of donating saplings to local schools. The club's Arbor Day program, chaired by Suffolk County Legislator Wayne R. Horsley provides almost 2,000 blue spruce trees to local schools every year.

According to the office of Leg. Horsley, the students at Marion G. Vedder were eager to plant the young trees and promised to plant, water and care for them throughout the year.

The Babylon Rotary Club has donated 35,000 of the trees to date, many of which now stand around Babylon.
