Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Car

NORTH BAY SHORE, NY - A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a car in North Bay Shore on Wednesday night, according to Suffolk Police.

Marty Karl, 65, of North Bay Shore was crossing Manatuck Boulevard, north of Hemlock Drive, when he was struck by a Volkswagen Jetta at 5:15 p.m., police said.

Karl was transported by Brentwood Legion Ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead at 5:45 p.m., police said.

The driver of the Jetta was not injured and remained at the scene. The car was impounded for a safety check.

The investigation is continuing.
