Police ID Man Found Shot to Death Outside of Nassau Home

UPDATE: Police have identified the man shot outside of a house in Hempstead Friday morning as Ricky Ward, 37, of Hempstead. Police are still searching for his killer.

ORIGINAL STORY: A man was found shot to death outside of a Hempstead home early Friday morning.

According to detectives, Hempstead police officers responded to a Shot Spotter activation in front of 163 Elizabeth Ave. at 12:25 a.m. Friday. When they arrived, police found a 37-year-old man on the ground with a gunshot wound. The man was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:36 a.m. The deceased’s identity is being withheld pending family notification.
The investigation is ongoing.
