DOE Representatives Will Attend CDEC 26's April 16 Meeting

Community District Education Council 26 will discuss how to improve academics for students with disabilities at its April 16 meeting.

The group, which represents schools in Douglaston, Little Neck, Bayside and several other neighborhoods, will meet at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Little Neck’s M.S. 67, located at 51-60 Marathon Parkway.

At the meeting, the council will talk about reforms to improve academics for students with disabilities as well as ways further meet the needs of such students at district schools.

Guest speakers at the meeting include several representatives of the city’s Department of Education, such as Lauren Katzman, executive director for special education, Shona Gibson, executive director of operations, and Andrew Hollander, director of strategic planning.

A representative from the city’s Division of Finance will also attend the meeting to discuss a proposed methodology for funding school budgets.

The education council’s May 2 meeting will include a ballroom dancing performance by M.S. 74 students.
