It was a busy week for local news in northeast Queens.

A Bayside man was arrested for allegedly murdering his parents during two separate incidents within the past year.

A Bayside High School student was named to MSG Variety’s All-New York City soccer team.

And the 111th Precinct Community Council announced that it was setting up a civilian patrol.

A Bayside man was indicted on charges of murdering his parents and attacking a police officer during questioning, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said.


The 111th Precinct Community Council announced it was setting up a civilian patrol following a recent spike in burglaries. And a man whose name was not released was struck and killed while crossing the tracks at Little Neck's Long Island Rail Road station.

State Sen. Tony Avella, D-Bayside, joined northeast Queens residents for a protest of a flight pattern out of LaGuardia Airport that has been driving local residents crazy during the past few months.

The Douglaston Music Group will no longer attend concerts during the year, but an organizer said there would be a holiday performance in 2013.

And the Bayside Library will close on Dec. 29 to allow for a renovation project that will take several months to complete.
