Town to Discuss Open Space, Caramoor's Online Auction is Through Thursday

1. Local students awarded College Book Award

The following local high school students were awarded the 2012 Saint Michael's College Book Award for Academic Achievement with a Social Conscience: Thomas Jansen of Katonah, a student at John Jay High School, Erica Payson of Bedford, a student at Fox Lane High School, Dana Wilson of Bedford, a student at Byram Hills High School.  The award recognizes students who demonstrate a commitment to leadership in volunteer service and academic achievement. Award recipients, named at schools throughout the country, are high school juniors who are inductees of the National Honor Society or an equivalent school-sponsored honors organization. They must demonstrate a commitment to service activities in high school or community organizations, taking leadership roles in these activities.

2. Meme's Treats and Patch have successful office hours

Thanks to all who stopped by at We met lots of locals—some of whom had never heard of Patch and then signed up on the spot to get our daily newsletter—and some who are faithful readers already. We met a few potential bloggers, including Terrence Levens, a soon-to-be John Jay freshman next year, who promised to send dispatches from the London Olympics when he's there in July. It was great to meet new folks from the community, and special thanks to Dawn White—the master baker behind Meme's Treats—for opening her doors to Patch.

4. Caramoor Auction 

There are great "experience" items being auctioned off to benefit Caramoor, now, online! You can bid up til Thursday on things like: Being a guest conductor at the July 4th concert at Caramoor, including a conducting lesson, attending the rehearsal and conductng a full orchestra in front of 1700 people; VIP tix plus backstage passes for Jazz festival; a private concert performed by the Caramoor quartet-in-residence. 5. Town to discuss open space

Following two public hearings on 1) revisions to the Customary Home Occupation Ordinance and 2) Cable Franchise renewal agreements with Cablevision, the town board will have a discussion on the open space and installing a multi-space parking meter system in Bedford's three commuter lots, among other agenda items.
