Board to Discuss Union Negotiations, Open Space

Tuesday night, locals have one more chance to make their voice heard in the debate on the town's open space tax. The board will complete the , currently set at at a half-percent in the The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at town hall.

Bedford Supervisor Lee V.A. Roberts told Patch that the board has not made its position known but will do so after the public comment ends tonight.

Also on the agenda is a notification of the end of Tom Bregman's appointment as director of the energy retrofit program. But he's not really leaving; the program is transitioning from the town of Bedford to the Energy Improvement Corporation, the formation of which was approved by the board over the summer—and

Bregman will serve as vice-president of the new corporation, according to Mark Thielking, the town's energy director.

Before moving into executive session to discuss negotiations with the White and Blue Collar Teamsters, whose contracts are up this year, officials will confirm the public hearing for their draft $25 million town budget, tentatively set for Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.

In addition, they'll confirm a date to discuss legislation under consideration, including new code for "green" building, home occupation modifications, and an ordinance on fair and affirmative housing, Roberts said.
