CROSS RIVER, NY - For the second year in a row, John Jay High School’s Model United Nations Club hosted delegates from 13 high schools in Westchester County for a conference featuring discussions around global and historical issues.
John Jay’s students served as the Nov. 14 event’s organizers, with junior Daniel Gordon serving as the 2015 secretary-general. The approximately 200 students in attendance split into seven committees falling under the categories of General Assembly, Specialized and Crisis.

Students prepared for the conference by taking on their assigned roles as particular countries and researching the topics at hand – which ranged from the Russian Revolution to a special meeting of Fortune 500 company CEOs – and submitted position papers prior to the conference.
In addition to representing various companies or countries during the conference, participating delegates had the opportunity to hear from a special keynote speaker, New York State Assemblyman David Buchwald.
