Police Pull Man's Body from Bellmore Marsh

BREAKING: No criminality is suspected in the death of the 66-year-old man.

The Nassau County Police Department is investigating a body that was found in Broad Creek Channel Thursday morning.

According to detectives, the Nassau County Marine Bureau was called at 11 a.m. to assist the Town of Hempstead Bay Constable after an unoccupied 19-foot boat was found in the vicinity of Big Crow Island/Broad Creek Channel, an area located between the Meadowbrook and Wantagh State parkways, north of Jones Beach.

Upon arrival, a 66-year-old man, whom police have not yet identified, was discovered submerged in the water. The victim was pronounced dead at 1:10 p.m. by a Nassau County Police Medic and transported to the Nassau County Morgue.

There is no apparent criminality at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
