Junior League of Bronxville Blazes New Trails With Signature Fundraiser

The JLB's vision is to alleviate hunger & improve nutrition in our service areas of Bronxville, Eastchester, Mt. Vernon, Tuckahoe &

For decades the Junior League of Bronxville’s signature fundraiser has been Trails To Treasures. In 2016 the event returned with the objective to engage a greater cross-section of individuals and businesses that are in support of the Junior League of Bronxville’s vision of Stamping Out Hunger in Southern Westchester.

The newest addition was Trails @ Twilight, which was held on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Bronxville Field Club with over 150 attendees. This evening cocktail party included a fashion show, perfectly orchestrated by Junior League of Bronxville member and Fashion Show Captain, Olivia Huvane. Models, or as Ms. Huvane referred to them as, “role models,” represented the range of individuals affiliated with the League and its vision - from sponsors, to active and sustaining members, to spouses and children, many of whom were part of the well-timed mother-daughter duos that strut their stuff in honor of Mother’s Day that weekend. The show was followed by a shopping boutique that highlighted spring looks from over fifteen Bronxville businesses. This was the largest engagement of local businesses by Trails and was a strategic decision based on the Junior League of Bronxville’s own membership in the Bronxville Chamber of Commerce. Finally, by holding the event in the evening, the League expanded the potential attendee pool by offering a compliment to the traditional daytime only event, Trails To Treasures.

The two-day extravaganza continued with the aforementioned Trails To Treasures on Friday, May 6th at the Bronxville Women’s Club. Despite the torrential rain, over 150 attendees shopped from a curated collection of vendors and were then able to board a trolley, which took them to five Bronxville homes for an exclusive tour of some of the town’s most beautiful estates. Changes this year included centralizing the vendors and providing the trolley service, courtesy of Harvester of Hope Sponsor People’s United Bank, so that attendees could focus more on the homes’ stunning architecture, history, and interior design. Guests were also treated to tastings from a variety of vendors, which included True Cocktails, Xocolatti, Hi Rise Hive and local businesses Dobbs & Bishop Fine Cheese, James Grace Pizzelles and recent newcomer to Bronxville, Stillmeadow Gourmet.

Again, in the spirit of partnering with others, Harvester of Hope Sponsor Julia B Fee Sotheby’s International Realty was integral in the home tour by not only providing access to two homes they are currently representing on the market, but also by having a number of their realtors volunteer that day to greet guests at each of the five homes. As an organization of women, the League was thrilled to have the support of so many men including Associate Real Estate Broker, William Downing from Julia B Fee Sotheby’s International Realty to members of the Rotary Club of Eastchester, another Sponsor, who staffed a table providing coffee to all attendees and finally, from Paul Ranieri, President of D.C. Ranieri Insurance Agency, a Seedling of Support Sponsor, who signed up for a volunteer shift to help give the Junior League of Bronxville’s own membership a chance to take in the event.

“The Junior League of Bronxville is very fortunate to be part of a community - from individuals, to businesses, to other nonprofits - that comes together for the greater good of those that are in need. This is why we are honored to continue the work of the organization started back in 1948 and pursue our vision of alleviating hunger and improving nutrition across our service areas of Bronxville, Eastchester, Mount Vernon, Tuckahoe and Yonkers,” said Sheridan Denfeld, President of the Junior League of Bronxville.
