Police Blotter: Burglar Nabs $15K from Waterfalls Cafe. Plus, School Assaults and Masked Robbers

The following arrest information was supplied by the 76th Precinct. It does not indicate a conviction.

Two Assaults Outside of 284 Baltic Street

Two children were the victims of separate incidents of assault in front of the schools at 284 Baltic Street recently. The first incident occurred on Tuesday, February 7 at 4:15 p.m. when a 12-year-old girl was walking home from school and surrounded by six unknown attackers that ranged in age from 12 to 17. The victim was thrown to the ground, causing serious pain. No arrests were made.

 

The second assault occurred a week later on Monday, February 13 at 2 p.m. At that time, two 15-year-old boys were having an argument outside of the school when one punched the other in the face, causing blood to gush out. The victim was taken to Long Island College Hospital for treatment. His assailant was arrested and charged with assault.

 

Woman Robbed of Designer Bag

On Saturday, February 11 at the corner of Henry Street and 2nd Place, a 35-year-old woman was walking at 9:30 p.m. when she was approached from behind by two men. Displaying a black firearm, one male said to the victim, “Gimme everything or I’m going to kill you.” They then took the victim’s Philip Lim handbag, valued at $400. Additional items stolen that were inside of the handbag included a Blackberry ($300), a Chase checkbook, three credit cards, a coach wallet ($80), and $100 in cash. The two assailants were both described as being approximately 16 years old and 5 feet.

 

Masked Man Robbed Stranger Near Summit Street Bridge

On Wednesday, February 8 at 10:45 p.m., a 30-year-old man left The Jalopy Bar on Columbia Street, walked over Summit Street Bridge and was nearing the corner of 1st Place and Henry Street, when he was approached by unknown male wearing a green mask and seemingly holding a black firearm. The masked man told the victim, “Gimme what you got.” So the victim took out his wallet, threw it on the ground and ran away. The robber was described as being 5 foot 8, approximately 180 pounds and wearing a black jogging outfit. He got away with $60.

 

$15,400 Stolen From Waterfalls Café

The Waterfalls Café at 144 Atlantic Avenue, between Clinton and Henry Streets was the target of a burglary that occurred between 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 2 and 11 a.m. on February 3. The suspect removed a panel of mailboxes next door and broke into the building by entering through the wall. The suspect then removed $12,000 from an ATM, $3,000 from the cash drawer and an additional $400 from another ATM drawer. The suspect exited the building via the same hole used to gain entry.

 

Arrest For Knife Possession

On the corner the corner of Luquer Street and Smith Street on Saturday, February 11 at 11:10 p.m. a man was found to be in possession of a gravity knife. A subsequent name check determined that the 28-year-old individual had an active warrant and he was arrested.
