This week's restaurant blotter for the tastiest precinct.

Restaurant Blotter: Chestnut Closes, Frankies Open Oyster Bar, Ethiopian Eatery Coming Soon

Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill and Boerum Hill represent the crossroads of Brooklyn gastronomy. The blotter is our weekly roundup of restaurant happenings, events and deals.

Chestnut Closes

The seasonally inspired restaurant  on Smith Street quietly closed this week, writing on their website "...This has been a great community to be a part of. As we move towards brighter futures we'll always be reminded that what we built was a true mom and pop and not a theme or franchise. It took an army of hungry food loving people to raise this house and an economic disaster to bring it down..." No details have been released on future plans for the restaurant owners.

Frankies Shutter Deli, Open Oyster Bar Instead

Frank Catronovo and Frank Falcinelli, owners of and have shuttered the latter's adjoining Delikat-essen & Provisions Store, which sold meats, olive oil, their cooking manual and other goods. The space has been converted into an oyster bar, currently open only on weekends, with cocktails and halfshells on offer for any overflow from the Prime Meats bar, according to EaterNY

Ethiopian Eatery Arriving in Cobble Hill

Brownstoner reports that after being approved by Community Board 6 for a liquor license, an Ethiopian restaurant will be opening at 242 Court Street, between Kane and Baltic streets, in the space formerly occupied by Quercy. The owner operates two other Ethiopian restaurants in Manhattan, with this being their first Brooklyn venture.
