Planning Board Continues The Hearth Public Hearing

Planning Board Continues The Hearth Public Hearing
1. The Mount Kisco Planning Board will meet tonight and continue the public hearing for The Hearth at Mount Kisco's special permit, according to its agenda. When the 129-unit senior housing proposal came to the board two weeks ago, members were furious after learning that the developer was in talks with Westchester County's Industrial Development Agency (IDA) that could lead to a payment in lieu of taxes (PILOT) agreement. The development team for the plan is seeking exemptions for sales and mortgage taxes and a PILOT negotiation with the village would be mandatory, an attorney for the project said at the time.

Mayor Michael Cindrich, according to  The Examiner, suggested that any PILOT amount should be at least what would be paid without a deal in place. Asked about the matter by Patch, Cindrich expressed concern about the issue having a financial impact on the village. He would also like to see Mount Kisco recoup some of the mortgage tax amount and to have a PILOT that is beneficial for taxpayers.

The board meeting is at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall.

2. The New Castle Town Board will vote tonight on Conifer Realty's special permit application for its Chappaqua Station housing plan. Our coverage of the issue can be found here.

3. The National Weather Service predicts that there will be a 20-percent chance of isolated showers in the area, with a high of 83 degrees in Mount Kisco and Millwood and 82 degrees in Chappaqua.
