The National Weather Service announced Tuesday morning that a Winter Storm Warning is currently in effect. Up to 14 inches of snow are expected in some areas, as well as arctic cold temperatures across the region.

Flurries began Tuesday morning around Long Island, with snow expected to gain intensity over the day, and the heaviest blast expected between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. Heavy, blowing snow and high winds will mean dangerous road conditions Tuesday night, with low visibility. Drivers are urged to stay off the roads if possible.
