It's a first for Commack, and perhaps Long Island: a drive-thru pizza, wings, hot dog, and Italian ice joint, where customers can get appetizers, dinner and dessert all in one stop.
The drive-thru opened June 1 and has been a hit ever since, said owner Scott Rosenberg, who started Lorenzo's Pizza and Toxic Wings, two of the restaurants open at the drive thru. The other two eateries are Nathan's and Ralph's Italian Ices.
Rosenberg said that he is especially surprised by how well Toxic Wings is doing since it opened three weeks ago on Commack Road, across from CVS.
"We're selling a ton of wings. People love them," he said.
The wings have become such a hit, that the restaurant has already sold 20,000 of them, he said.
The wings come in about a dozen different varieties including Buffalo, honey, sweet and sour, teriyaki, Parmesan garlic and others.
Lorenzo's Pizza offers everything from calzones and heroes to pizzas, pastas and seafood. The prices are very reasonable at $1.25 per slice or $8.99 per pie.
For the month of August, customers get a special grand opening deal of 99-cent slices and $7.98-pies.
In addition to the drive-thru and new eateries, the site also added outdoor and indoor seating. The business is open until midnight on weekdays and until 1 a.m. on weekends.
"It gives kids in the neighborhood somewhere safe and fun to hang out," Rosenberg said.
It also gives the teens jobs. Rosenberg currently employs about 20 people at the Commack Road location, and many of them are local residents.
Rosenberg owns three other Lorenzo's Pizza and Toxic Wings locations on Long Island including in Deer Park, St. James and Hempstead.
