One of the school’s great baseball players died Monday of brain cancer

Obituary: Ron Lupo, 47, Commack Pitcher

Ron Lupo, who is remembered as one of Commack’s greatest pitchers, died Monday of brain cancer. He was 47 years old.

Lupo was a pitcher at Commack North High School, where he was named an All-Suffolk baseball player. He graduated in 1984 and went on to become a college All-American at LIU-Post, where he was recently inducted into the Hall of Fame, acording to a report in Newsday.

Lupo died in his Hauppauge home, where he lived with his wife, Michelle, and raised their three children; Nicholas, Deanna and Julia.

After his college baseball career, Lupo became the owner of All State Abstract Corp., a title insurance company.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Feb. 23 at 9:45 a.m. at St. Thomas More RC Church in Hauppauge. The interment will follow at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.

Visitation is Feb. 22 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Moloney's Hauppauge Funeral Home.
