Taco Bell Demolished, Updated Building to Come

The fast food restaurant was torn down Wednesday.

Taco Bell Demolished, Updated Building to Come
Taco Bell on Jericho Turnpike in Commack said adiós Wednesday.

The fast food restaurant, located at 2186 Jericho Tpke., was demolished in order to make way for a new, updated building.

A construction manager at the site said that the new building is expected to be up within three or four months.

Taco Bell, which also shared its building with Pizza Hut Express, closed Aug. 8. It is not clear if Pizza Hut will join Taco Bell at its new building.

The new Taco Bell will be slightly larger with an additional 100-square-feet, as well as an updated drive-thru that will be easier to navigate, Peter Hans of the Smithtown Planning Department, said.

While the Commack location is currently non-existent, a new Taco Bell may be coming just down the road in East Northport.

The Town of Huntington's Zoning Board of Appeals is currently reviewing a proposal to build a Taco Bell drive-thru on a one-acre lot at 3048 Jericho Tpke., East Northport.

For now, those craving quesadillas or the brand's new Doritos Locos tacos will have to travel to Smithtown, Central Islip or Deer Park to get their hands on them.
