Trader Joe's: Home of the Quick & Easy Mexican Feast
Are you one of those people who think that all frozen dinners are tasteless and disgusting? Nine times out of ten that may be a very true statement; but not when you shop at Trader Joe's.
So you’re in the mood for something different but you’re not sure quite what. You also want something relatively quick and easy that won’t take hours of simmering, slicing, and preparing. Why not head over to for a quick bite and a delicious meal that you can serve at home, or enjoy with a group of friends.
Most of you may know Trader Joe’s as a place for organic food lovers who love Whole Foods and reusable shopping bags. But trust me on this—Trader Joe’s is not just for people who live off of soymilk and organic soup products (though those are quite good as well).

Trader Joe’s has a wide assortment of foodstuffs to pleasure every taste bud out there. And best of all, their frozen food section is full of interesting and tasty items that you cannot find at any other supermarket around.
Say you’re in the mood for some Mexican fare…I bet you didn’t know that Trader Joe’s has, in my humble opinion, the best selection of frozen burritos around. If you’re new to the burrito section, I whole-heartedly recommend the basic Chicken Burrito (I like to add a couple slices of Monterey Jack cheese to melt on top for a little extra cheesiness). But if you’re interested in something a little more exciting, they also have steak and bean burritos in multiple flavors and preparations.

They also sell a 5-Layer Dip that is absolutely to die for and prepared fresh. The creamy guacamole and sour cream with chopped fresh tomatoes are enough to drive me headfirst into food heaven. To scoop up a big hunk of that deliciousness you can opt for either your standard salsa-friendly chips or the more non-traditional pita and/or bagel chips. Personally, I adore the Chili Lime chips but they do have a bit of a kick to them so beware.
The key to making any Mexican-style feast complete from Trader Joe’s is getting some zesty salsa to kick your entire plate up a notch. As with everything else, they boast a wide variety of salsas; which even I can admit might be a little daunting at first. Be sure to check the back of the label for that particular salsas’ hotness quotient (Most, if not all of their salsas have this.) For a nice twist on the typical try the green Salsa Verde, the fruity Pineapple Salsa, or the smoky and sweet Peach Salsa.
Eating Mexican-style foods at home doesn’t have to be complicated with Trader Joe’s around. So crank up that microwave, whip out those utensils, and happy feasting.
