Body Pulled From Ocean In Hamptons: Cops

Tragedy struck in the Hamptons as efforts to save a female pulled from the ocean were unsuccessful, police say.

WAINSCOTT, NY — Tragedy struck in Wainscott Saturday as a female pulled from the water at the beach was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

East Hampton Town Police and the Suffolk County Medical Examiners Office are investigating the death of the female, who was pulled from the water at Wainscott Beach just west of Beach Lane at 2:36 p.m.

Police and EMS were called to the oceanfront after a beachgoer pulled the unresponsive female from the water, police said. All efforts to revive her were unsuccessful, and she was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Her identity is being withheld until proper notification can be made to family members, police said.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call East Hampton Town Police at 631-537-7575.
