East Hampton Marine Patrol officers are assisting in the underwater search for a missing man in Water Mill on Monday.

A 29-year-old man was reported missing after his jet ski overturned in the choppy waters of Mecox Bay on Sunday at about 6:45 p.m. Fire departments — including the water rescue team from East Hampton Fire Department — searched for the man for about two hours, until nightfall and a storm descended on the area.

Southampton Town police, divers, and bay constables resumed the search on Monday at about 6:30 a.m., setting up a mobil command post on Flying Point Road in Water Mill.

The Suffolk County Sheriff's office and State Department of Environmental Conservation was also assisting with the search.

East Hampton Town Police Department Chief Ed Ecker said the marine patrol officers and boat were requested. None of his police department divers were called, however.
