ICYMI: Filmmaker Killed in East Hampton Car Crash

In case you missed it, hereโ€™s a story that appeared last week in East Hampton Patch:

A filmmaker from New York City was killed in a car crash in East Hampton early Thursday morning, according to East Hampton Town Police.

Nicholas J. Louvel, 34, was driving his Honda Accord northbound on Route 114 when his car crossed over the southbound lane and left the roadway, crashing into several trees, at about 1:06 a.m., police said.

Louvel, who lived in Manhattan but also had residence in Wainscott, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The car was impounded for safety inspection and the investigation is ongoing. Detectives are asking that anyone with information on the crash call East Hampton Town Police at 631-537-7575.

Louvel, a Harvard University graduate, recently posted on his Facebook page that a film he directed, โ€œThe Uncondemned,โ€ had been selected to premiere at the 2015 Hamptons International Film Festival in October.

Louvel directed his first independent feature film, โ€œDomino One,โ€ while attending Harvard. Louvel also wrote and starred in the film, whose cast list included Natalie Portman, who also attended Harvard.
