Julie Mason Shining Brightly in the Press Pool

There is something special growing on Sirius Radio every weekday afternoon.

Monday through Friday at 3PM eastern daylight time, Julie Mason’s Press Pool fires up on Sirius Radio’s P.O.T.U.S. (Channel 124). Her voice is friendly, clear and confident. Her grasp of the journalistic political landscape may be second to none. Every day she brings words to life by having the political writers of the latest hot columns, blogs, editorials, and mainstream articles come on to her show and talk about their pieces that day.

Julie Mason’s skill is to produce a radio show with a touch/feel/sound of colleagues in the Mayflower Bar at happy hour talking shop. Listening to her show is habit forming. I have many times found myself in my driveway waiting for a segment to end before I go into my home.

Julie Mason loves talking with her fellow reporters. She had been the White House correspondent for the Washington Examiner, mostly during the George W. Bush years, this, after she came to D.C. to cover Washington for the Houston Chronicle. So when she says, “its great to catch up,” with her guests she is being truthful.

I believe Julie Mason presently has her fingers on all the hot button issues of the day at hand and seems to use her interview skills to open up the minds of all those who are following/tracking/reporting on the political stories in real time. Sometimes the guests tell you what will be in tomorrow’s blogs, column and articles.

Most important is that the information comes to you raw, meaning the bias of the reporter or story is sort of laid out there for you. Show guests come from all political persuasions and somehow Julie let’s them inform us, but not bludgeon us with talking points propaganda. Yet since the topic is politics there is no one right or wrong position on any topic but degrees of common sense depending on where you sit, be it on the left, the right, or in the center.

Lastly my personal favorites are Julie’s light moments impersonations that I believe are Las Vegas Lounge comedy quality. Her Laura Bush, Michelle Obama and John Boehner sometimes slip out of her mouth and are spot on. THE PRESS POOL on Sirius Radio Channel 124 (P.O.T.U.S.) entertains and educates me on my drives everyday. Julie Mason’s career is in a sweet spot and no doubt on the ascent.
