Man Killed In Springs Crash: Police

A man was also seriously injured and airlifted after the crash Saturday afternoon, police say.

SPRINGS, NY โ€” One man was killed and another seriously injured in a single-car crash in Springs Saturday afternoon, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Edward H. Reich, 54, of Nyack, was killed in the crash, which took place at 3:22 p.m.

Reich was driving a 1987 Porsche north on Three Mile Harbor/Hog Creek Road near Gardinerd Lane when the vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a utility pole, police said.

Reich was extricated from the vehicle by Springs Fire Department personnel and transported to Southampton Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

Robert Kostro, 54, of East Hampton, the sole passenger in the vehicle, was also extricated from the car and airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he is listed in serious, but stable condition, police said.

The Porsche was impounded for safety checks and the investigation is ongoing; anyone with information is asked to call East Hampton Town Police at 631-537-7575.
