Photos: East Hampton Remembers 9/11

Chief asks that we remember not only those who lost their lives on 9/11, but those who have died since.

Firefighters, police officers, emergency medical personnel and the public came together on Wednesday evening to honor those who perished in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Hosted by the East Hampton Town Chiefs' Association at the memorial by the Hook Mill in East Hampton, Springs Fire Department Chief Ben Miller also reminded those in attendance about the growing number of firefighters whose names have been added to the list of the 343 who died on 9/11.

East Hampton Town Supervisor Bill Wilkinson and Village Mayor Paul Rickenbach Jr. also spoke, thanking all emergency workers for their service. The Rev. Steve Howarth, an Amagansett firefighter and the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Amagansett, gave a prayer, before wreaths were presented by all the agencies serving the Town of East Hampton.
