Social Photos: Celebrating the Fourth of July in the Hamptons

The Fourth of July may have been deluged by rains from Hurricane Arthur, but that didn't put a damper on the holiday weekend. The parade in Southampton proceeded as planned even if the fireworks by Grucci benefitting the Fresh Air Camp had to be postponed until Sunday.

Saturday dawned crisp and clear, scrubbed clean by the rains and sparkling. Fireworks went off in towns across the East End including Sag Harbor and Amagansett. In Amagansett, the narrow country lanes saw bumper to bumper traffic as spectators parked along the road to see the annual display of fireworks put on by the Devon Yacht Club.

From small gatherings of family and friends to large public celebrations, July 4th weekend exemplifies, (mostly) for better and (occasionally) for worse, what summer on the East End is all about.
