This Weekend: Holiday Spectacular, Shopping and Santa

A little more than 10 days until Christmas, so whether you need to get some shopping done or just need a break from thinking about who's left on your list, here are some local events that can help.

Friday

Spa Holiday Shopping Event: At Gurney's Inn in Montauk, make a donation for "Toys for Sandy" and receive a free gift. Also, it's "SPA LA LA LA" at the shopping boutique between 5 and 8 p.m. Sip on a complimentary glass of Hot Apple Cider while enjoying a complimentary service and enjoy savings on spa and salon products up to 50 percent off.

Talent Show Fundraiser: East Hampton High School Dance Team presents a talent show in the auditorium, starting at 7 p.m., to raise money for Kiah and Laini Wright, who lost their mother Dee Wright during Hurricane Sandy. Price: $5

Holiday Spectacular Spectacular!: Guild Hall will host a fundraiser show for WPPB 88.3 FM on Friday at 8 p.m., and again on Saturday at 8 p.m. Join the Fabulous Variety Show Players as they present a night of music, comedy, and dance. Purchase tickets online. Price: $20.

The Thieves at the Talkhouse: Joe Delia & Thieves will heat up a December night at the Stephen Talkhouse, starting at 10 p.m.

Saturday

Sweet tauk's Handmade for the Holidays Fair: Every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., until the Sunday before Christmas, Sweet 'tauk in Montauk will showcase more than 20 artists, crafters and food artisans and their handmade wares.

The Met: Live in HD presents Verdi’s Aida: The Met's production of Verdi's ancient Egyptian drama will air on the big screen at Guild Hall at 1 p.m. It stars Liudmyla Monastyrska as the enslaved Ethiopian princess caught in a love triangle with the heroic Radamès, played by Roberto Alagna, and the proud Egyptian princess Amneris, sung by Olga Borodina. Fabio Luisi conducts. Price: $22 General Admission, $20 Members and $15 Students

Seal Hike in Montauk: Hikers will meet at the Montauk Lighthouse concession building at 2 p.m. for the two to three-hour expedition. Dress appropriately for cold weather and wear comfortable shoes. Space is limited so call for reservations. Price: $5 for adults, $3 for children 7 to 18, and free for children 6 and under.

Holiday Open House: The East End Classic Boat Society will have an open house at the Community Boat Shop in Amagansett from 4 to 6 p.m. A raffle drawing will be held at 5:30 p.m. for the boat built this year, a Swampscott dory.

Sunday

Holiday Breakfast & Bazaar: Hampton Kids in Wainscott will host a breakfast visit with Santa from 9 to 11 a.m. Kids can also create holiday crafts. East Hampton Indoor Tennis and Hampton Kids members are $10 per adult, $7 per child. Non-members are $15 per adult, $12 per child. Reservations are required.

Bowl-A-Thon Fundraiser for Mansir Family: The East Hampton High School Key Club has organized a fundraiser for the Mansir family at East Hampton Bowl at 1 p.m. Families can bowl for $10 (including shoes). Tara Mansir died in late October after battling cancer.

Santa Appearance: Before Santa Claus gets too busy, he will make a stop at Race Lane restaurant in East Hampton from 3 to 5 p.m. Bring the kids and gather by the fireplace for hot chocolate, cookies and egg nog.

St. Therese Christmas Concert: St. Therese of Lisieux's Christmas Concert is set for 5 p.m. The St. T choirs, recorder ensemble, local soloists, and a group from Hampton Chorale Society are all featured. Bring cookies to share.
