East Meadow Residents: When Will My Street Be Plowed?

Hempstead Town officials are "working around the clock" to remove snow from the 1,200 miles of roadways and municipal parking fields.

East Meadow Residents: When Will My Street Be Plowed?
After the  snow, if there is one pressing question by many East Meadow residents, it’s this: when will my street be plowed?

While the Town of Hempstead works "around the clock" to remove snow from the 1,200 miles of roadways and municipal parking fields in unincorporated areas, many East Meadow residents report no plow activity.

According to Mike Deery, the Town's director of communications, plowing started on Thursday evening as snow began to accumulate and has continued all day Friday. "High winds have caused drifting and in many cases snow blew back onto plowed roadways," he told Patch. "We will continue to clear roadways for the safety of those traveling on town streets. Roads are passable as we continue to groom them and clear remaining snow.”

Nancy Greiner-Gallagher reported on Patch's Facebook page about an hour ago that she has yet to see a plow on Michael Court.

Rosa Sferrazza-Principato lives in what used to be known as the Westbrook Park section (in Levittown but within the East Meadow School District). "During Sandy we were the last section to get electricity. Once again we are forgotten," she wrote.

The same was true for Becky Gillman Goldberg, who too is waiting for plows. So is Robert Pope JP Ingordo, who said a plow has yet to pass Bernard Drive in Salisbury as of 2 p.m.

But Danica Valentine said Coolidge Drive got plowed, "one time down." The same was true for June Rastelli Wildes who said her road was plowed in Barnum Woods at approximately 10:30 a.m.

Judy McGlone added that streets in her area were being plowed all night but with all the wind you wouldn't know.
