Homecoming Kings: Jets Stay Undefeated with Win

The Jets scored early and often en route to their 61-7 win.

It was deja vu for the East Meadow Jets as they enjoyed another victory at Saturday against Valley Stream Central, 61-7.

The Hawks had no answer for the East Meadow offense. Unlike the prior two victories, the Jets showed that they can be a successful passing offense, as well as a running team with two passing touchdowns by quarterback Dylan Curry. One of the touchdowns went to Robbie Healy on a 72-yard pass to put East Meadow up by 20.

“The line did a great job giving me a lot of time to make a play,” Curry said. “Healy is great I am so happy to have him playing on our side.”

Turning Point

The turning point came early in the game with the Jets up by two scores already. Valley Stream began to show some life with a drive into East Meadow territory. James D’Elia then came up big with an interception to give the ball back to East Meadow, and a score on the next play put the game on ice.

Star of the Game

Once again for East Meadow, Robbie Healy was everywhere on the field making plays. Healy, in only two quarters, had 81 yards rushing, 72 reception yards and three touchdowns on offense. On defense, Healy was just as impressive with two interceptions, including one for a touchdown.

Bottom Line

The Hawks, despite getting their passing game going well early, turned the ball over too much. The Jets continued to roll against young teams. East Meadow has been able to win games against younger inexperienced teams with their solid running game and persistent defense.

East Meadow will now get into the thick of their season with tough matchups against Uniondale, Oceanside and the always powerful Freeport during the rest of the season.

“Now the schedule gets interesting for us and we can see where we stand against other teams,” Coach Vincent Mascia said.

Coming Up

The undefeated Jets will look to continue their winning ways as they travel to Uniondale to take on the Knights at 3 p.m. on Oct. 1.
