Fire Breaks Out at Nassau County Apartment Complex

No injuries were reported.

EAST MEADOW, NY - No injuries were reported in an East Meadow apartment fire that broke out on Thursday morning, according to North Bellmore Fire Commissioner Eddie Kraus.

The fire broke out in the apartment on 425 Newbridge Road at about 11 a.m.

No one was home at the time of the fire, according to Kraus. The damage from the blaze was contained to the one apartment.

According to the American Red Cross, four residents were displaced by the fire.

The Red Cross assisted in providing temporary housing, emergency funds for basic necessities and health assistance to the residents.

"A fire like this could have easily spread to the whole building," Kraus said. "Luckily it was quickly extinguished."

In addition to the North Bellmore Fire Department, the Bellmore, Merrick, North Merrick, Wantagh, East Meadow and Hicksville departments responded to the scene.

The fire marshal is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
