Two people were injured in a three-car crash at the intersection of Merrick Avenue and Luddington Road Tuesday, according to witnesses.

The crash, which happened at approximately 11:30 a.m., took place when one vehicle attempted to make a left off of Luddington Road onto Merrick Avenue. Another vehicle was traveling on Merrick Avenue and the two collided.

One of the vehicles then struck a parked car, which is owned by Rachael O'Mara.

"Both of the drivers needed to be taken to the hospital," she said. "They looked pretty bad."

O'Mara described one of the drivers to be an elderly woman, while the other was a man. The severity of their injuries is unknown.

"There really needs to be a traffic light at this corner," a woman, who requested anonymity, said. "There are just too many accidents at this corner."

The northbound lanes of Merrick Avenue were closed down for a brief time while the three vehicles were towed away and street sweepers cleared the debris.
